What is the leaf arrangement? bark--notice the prominent lenticels

fruits are borne in dense, subsessile, pyramidal panicles (not terminal as on Rhus lanceolata) before lemons were readily available, the small fruits of Rhus copallinum were crushed in water to make a tart drink called sumac-ade (Crosswhite, 1980)
