Teaching Style This course has been designed to permit students to become better able to present and understand quantitative information.

This is an applied course, with strong emphasis on understanding of the material, above memorization of facts.

The Socratic method, will be used in class sessions, in which students will learn to answer their own questions, using a structured problem solving approach.

Class Sessions Class sessions will provide students with the fundamentals of statistics and will provide an interactive opportunity to ask questions and solve problems. Students are encouraged to ask questions during class sessions.

Students will be provided with clickers during the course. The clickers will be used to obtain anonymous feedback and answers to questions posed during the class.

Computer Sessions Computer sessions will allow students to work in small groups, on shared computers, to practice the principles covered within the course.

During computer sessions students will learn how to use statistical software, to simplify the analysis and assembly of information into a model that explains the real world.

Class Preparation Minimal preparation is required for the course. However, it is advised that students review the course material before and after each class session.

Students are encouraged to note any points or questions about the material they don't understand and to ask questions either during the class sessions or on the discussion board on Blackboard.
