Teaching Style This course is designed to guide students toward self sufficiency using SPSS as a tool to collect, summarize, present and analyze information.

This course has been designed to permit students to become better able to present and understand quantitative information.

This is an applied course, with strong emphasis being placed upon the understanding of material, above memorization.

The Socratic method will be used in class sessions, in which students will learn to answer their own questions, using a structured problem solving approach.

Computer/class Sessions Class sessions will provide students with the background of statistics and will provide an interactive opportunity to ask questions and solve problems. Students are encouraged to ask questions during all class sessions.

Computer sessions will allow students to work in small groups, on shared computers, to practice the principles covered within the course.

During computer sessions students will learn how to use statistical software, to simplify analysis and assembly of information into an accurate model which explains the world.

Students are encourage to note any points or questions about the material they don't understand and to ask questions either during the class sessions or on the discussion board on Blackboard.
