Course Objectives The main objective of the course is to provide students with transferable skills to help them understand and integrate complex subjects, such as immunology.

The course emphasizes the application of knowledge to solve novel problems, associated with immune functions.

Skill Sets On successfully completing this course students will:
  • be able to integrate information from multiple sources
  • be able to assemble models or concepts
  • have improved reasoning skills and ability to solve novel problems
    • using a systematic approach to reasoning and concept maps
  • have improved independent study techniques
  • have improved confidence articulating and discussing concepts
  • understand the organs, cells and molecules of the immune system
  • understand how immune functions integrate within the host to protect the host from non-self
  • be able to design controlled experiments to answer biological questions
  • be able to understand and interpret experimental data pertinent to biology and immunology
